In February 5 and 6, 2024, the Center for Sustainability and Excellence (CSE) and the Chicagoland Food & Beverage Network (CFBN) collaborated to conduct a Certified Sustainability Practitioner training program for members of the CFBN. This insightful program delved deep into crucial sustainability issues, focusing on integration into core business strategies and responsible communication of sustainability practices.

Illuminating Sustainable Practices

Indeed, the sessions weren’t just informative; they sparked meaningful discussions on pressing sustainability issues in the food and beverage industry. The course tackled key themes such as supply chain management, compliance, international legislation, the circular economy, and the significance of materiality assessment.

Proactive Industry Leadership

Thus,  Alan Reed, Executive Director of CFBN, emphasized the proactive role the industry should play in addressing environmental concerns. He remarked, “At a time when food and agriculture are being singled out as a problem for environmental sustainability, it is especially important that our industry proactively address these concerns and raise the bar at each of our companies, and as individuals.

Tailored Sustainability Strategies

Therefore, the training placed particular emphasis on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors, Carbon Reduction, and Supply Chain considerations.. These discussions were tailored to meet the unique needs of industry leaders such as Kerry Group, Dempsey Corporation, Mark Anthony Brewing, BCW Global, EDLONG, Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy, PTIS, LLC, National Dairy Council, Green Guide, and The Suter Co.

Unveiling Research Insights

Specifically, a significant highlight of the program was the unveiling of CSE’s latest research on ESG Practices shaping business success. This research built on groundbreaking insights from CSE’s annual research on ESG Reporting Trends of Top-Tier Companies in the US and Canada.
