Assessing and Reporting your Sustainability Performance

CSR-Practitioners align financial and non-financial values & drivers within organizations

This past week, the Centre for Sustainability and Excellence (CSE) hosted its 2nd annual global “Certified Sustainability (CSR) Practitioner” Training in New York City, NY. The training was followed by a Roundtable, the 6th in CSE’s sustainability Roundtable series, discussing the topic of “Assessing and Reporting your Sustainability Performance”.

Participants included twenty Sustainability managers, environmental consultants, external relations advisors, and communications executives, from Energy, Banking, IT Services, Pharmaceuticals and Food Retailers, to Media Auditors, Investment, Health and Capital Management sectors.

Over the course of two days, CSE provided intensive training on specific sustainability concepts, including stakeholder engagement, sustainability assessment and strategy formulation, global sustainability reporting trends and standards and green marketing guidelines. This uniquely certified training enables professionals to gain a globally recognized certification as CSR Practitioners and make a substantial difference by integrating sustainability into their practice and organizations. CSE trainings are recognized internationally and are approved by the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA).

The Sustainability Roundtable series is an effort to bring the topic of Sustainability further into the main stream of business, by focusing on key issues and topics for integrating CSR strategy into corporate agenda.

During the roundtable discussion, Nikos Avlonas, President of CSE, in an effort to enhance the understanding of need for defining core subjects of assessing performance, presented a road map in determining the sustainability context, as well as practical ways for CSR integration applicable to all organizations and institutions.

Amy Springsteel, strategist and Judy Sandford, senior strategist, at Addison, an independent brand strategy and communications design firm that focuses on information simplification, greatly contributed to the discussion, sharing their experience and knowledge in the field of sustainability and communications.

Aman Singh of Vault.com announced and elaborated on the results of an extensive survey on “Sustainability (CSR) Trends and Career Roles” conducted by Vault and CSE. A white paper on the results of the survey is soon to be released.

As an approved training provider, under the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA), CSE has certified more than 200 CSR Practitioners, who are currently making a substantial difference in 5 continents and over 21 countries driving best practice.
