Sustainability Reporting and ESG Ratings Podcast

Interview of CSE Founder and CEO Nikos Avlonas on the Environmental Transformation Podcast with Sean Grady

We are excited about the great interview of CSE’s Founder and CEO Nikos Avlonas on Sean Grady’s the Environmental Transformation Podcast.

The interview started off describing the meaning of Environmental Social Governance (ESG) and why is it a big deal in the industry today. The numbers are impressive: Sustainability related assets are set to balloon to $50 trillion by 2025 from about $35 trillion, according to estimates from Bloomberg, while ESG-related assets account for one in three dollars managed globally, industry group Global Sustainable Investment Association estimates.

Then Nikos explained the value of ESG Reporting for companies and referred to internal and external benefits, ranging from increased transparency and credibility to measurement of performance and change management.

The second part of the interview discussed the role of Chief Sustainability Managers and the high demand for Sustainability Professionals. With the changing sustainability regulatory framework and new business demands, it seems to be the job of the future. The International Labor Organization (ILO) estimates that 24 million jobs worldwide could be created by the green economy by 2030 alone.

However, professionals need specialized knowledge and tools to be able to tackle the new challenges. The contribution of CSE was here highlighted, which has trained more than 8,000 Certified Sustainability Practitioners globally, from Fortune 500 companies and government organizations, through executive training programs and specialized online courses.

Then Sean and Nikos touched on the latest trends in Sustainability Reporting, including Standards used. According to CSE’s latest ESG Research in the US and Canada, there is a significant increase in the use of ESG standards from leading companies.

The third part of the discussion was about the new trends and legislations in US and Europe that are expected to have a high impact on business, including climate disclosure measures by SEC. The discussion specifically referred to the trend of many companies to launch decarbonization programs and cut down their carbon emissions (become net-zero).
