How 2025 Became a Landmark Year for US Sustainability Training

Why 2025 Was a Breakthrough Year for CSE’s US Programs

The year 2025 marked one of the most successful periods in the 20-year history of the Centre for Sustainability & Excellence (CSE). Our U.S. Certified Sustainability Practitioner Programs held in February, June, and October, and throughout the fall reached record participation, stronger engagement, and outstanding feedback from professionals across key sectors.

According to our 2025 impact updates, participants valued the program’s hands-on methodology, real-world case studies, and direct applicability to their organizational Sustainability needs. From New York to Chicago and online cohorts across North America, CSE continued to empower sustainability leaders with practical tools aligned with global frameworks such as GRI, SASB, ISSB, TCFD, and emerging regulatory updates.

These achievements reflect the growing importance of sustainability skills in the U.S. workforce, and why more organizations are sending team leaders back to CSE for advanced Sustainability training.

The Benefits: Who Joined Us and Why It Mattered

CSE’s 2025 U.S. programs attracted an impressive cross-section of professionals who are shaping sustainability strategy in their industries. Participants joined from sectors such as Education, Health & Safety, IT, Economic Development, and Energy, illustrating the broad applicability of sustainability skills across the U.S. economy.

Their roles highlight the program’s relevance to both leadership and operational sustainability functions. Job titles included:

  • Sustainability Program Manager
  • Director – Sustainability, Health & Safety
  • Senior Manager
  • Owner & Principal Consultant
  • Deputy Chief of Party

This broad participation reinforces how CSE’s trainings speak to leaders at every stage of the sustainability journey, whether developing sustainability strategies, managing compliance requirements, or transforming organizational culture.

What Made the 2025 Trainings Exceptional: Tools, Frameworks, and Practical Depth

CSE’s methodology focuses on applied learning, equipping participants with real tools to use the very next day in their organizations. Our U.S. trainings included hands-on work with:

  • Materiality assessments aligned with GRI and ISSB
  • Scope 1–3 carbon accounting frameworks
  • Sustainability ratings and disclosures
  • Sustainability reporting standards
  • Stakeholder engagement techniques
  • Risk assessment and scenario planning

A Key Insight: Practical Knowledge Over Theory

The most consistent feedback from 2025 was that participants appreciated how practical, forward-thinking, and data-driven the sessions were. We emphasized measurable outcomes, transparency, and strategy, helping leaders link sustainability principles to real organizational change.

Real-World Impact: Testimonials from US Leadership Training Participants

Nothing demonstrates our success more clearly than the words of our 2025 graduates.

Esther Ro – Section Manager/Consolidated Edison, Inc.

“This session has significantly enhanced and organized my understanding of sustainability. I have some idea of how to apply what I learned here to my organization.”

Esther’s experience reflects the clarity and confidence many professionals gained moving from conceptual understanding to actionable sustainability integration.

 Therissa Allen – Director Manager/TALLEN

“What I liked most about the training was its practical and forward-thinking approach. The use of real-world data. I appreciated how the training connected sustainability principles to measurable outcomes, particularly in areas such as workplace culture, supply chain risks, and market transformation. It helped me think more strategically about sustainability as an integrated framework rather than separate environmental or social initiatives.”

Therissa’s perspective highlights one of the program’s core strengths: enabling participants to shift from siloed thinking to holistic sustainability strategy.

These testimonials are part of a growing collection of success stories from our U.S. Leadership Training Series, as seen in our 2025 updates and fall program reports.
