Dr. Nikos Liapis is a graduate Mechanical Engineer from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from NTUA, with specialization in fuels, biofuels, lubricants, oil tankers, logistics, and the green transition
He is an Energy and Business Consultant in the oil sector, shipping, and industry, with a strong focus on the Green Transition. He has held executive positions for over 29 years in the petroleum sector. For the last 15 years, he has served as COO at ELINOIL, a petroleum distribution company, and as General Manager of ELIN SHIPPING, a shipping subsidiary that manages small oil tankers.
Dr. Liapis is President of the Hellenic Institute of Marine Technology (ELINT), Member of the Board of the Hellenic Shortsea Shipowners Association (EENMA), Chairman of the Downstream Committee of the Institute of Energy for South-East Europe (IENE) and Member of the Technical Committees of RINA and Lloyd’s Register.
Furthermore is Advisor to the Hellenic Petroleum Marketing Companies Association (SEEPE), Former President of the Marine LNG Network, Former President of the Biofuels Technology Platform and National representative of the European Biodiesel Board (EBB) in Greece.
Nikos Liapis also teaches Energy Policies, Shipping Decarbonization, Maritime Logistics, Marine Technology, and Strategic Management in postgraduate programs at the University of Piraeus, the University of Limassol, and the University of West London.
