During his tenure as Economic Representative in Athens (2015–2024), Chris played a pivotal role in Greece’s financial recovery, leading the completion of the crisis adjustment program and shaping reform strategies that strengthened the country’s economic foundations.

Chris has contributed to EU industrial and business policies, global climate change negotiations, and the development of EU Horizon partnerships focusing on advanced technologies and innovation. Before his impactful work at the European Commission, he led economic forecasting at the European Central Bank and taught economics at prestigious universities in the UK and the Netherlands.
