El cambio clim\u00e1tico supone una grave amenaza y se reconoce que las comunidades vulnerables sufrir\u00e1n las mayores consecuencias. Para hacer frente a la amenaza, las emisiones de carbono deben disminuir.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Impuesto sobre el carbono<\/strong> desincentiva el uso de combustibles f\u00f3siles, ya que se trata de una tasa impuesta por un gobierno a cualquier empresa que queme combustibles f\u00f3siles. Cada gobierno puede determinar el coste externo por cada tonelada de emisi\u00f3n de gases de efecto invernadero.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Las pol\u00edticas fiscales sobre el carbono suelen ser las preferidas por los economistas, ya que es m\u00e1s f\u00e1cil correlacionar las emisiones con su coste y es una de las formas m\u00e1s rentables de reducirlas. Sin embargo, se plantea una cuesti\u00f3n importante: el impacto que pueden tener en los contribuyentes de rentas bajas o medias. Por eso, un impuesto sobre el carbono debe introducirse gradualmente para darles tiempo a hacer ese cambio.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Varios pa\u00edses, regiones y gobiernos locales de todo el mundo ya han implantado un impuesto sobre el carbono, entre ellos la UE, Canad\u00e1 y Suecia. Adem\u00e1s, varios estados de EE.UU. tienen programas de tarificaci\u00f3n del carbono, especialmente California.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Seg\u00fan el Banco Mundial<\/strong>40 pa\u00edses y 20 municipios utilizan impuestos sobre el carbono o el comercio de emisiones de carbono y un total de 88 pa\u00edses tienen la intenci\u00f3n de utilizar un impuesto sobre el carbono para cumplir sus objetivos del Acuerdo de Par\u00eds, lo que representa 56% de las emisiones mundiales.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Finlandia<\/strong> fue el primer pa\u00eds del mundo en introducir un impuesto sobre el carbono en 1990. En la actualidad, Suecia tiene el tipo impositivo m\u00e1s alto, 108,81 euros ($119) por tonelada de emisiones de carbono. Le siguen Suiza y Liechtenstein, con 90,53 euros ($99 d\u00f3lares). Por otro lado, el tipo impositivo m\u00e1s bajo se encuentra en Polonia, con 0,09 euros ($0,10 d\u00f3lares).<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

El 1 de abril, El precio del carbono en Canad\u00e1<\/strong> aumentar\u00e1 en $10 por tonelada cada a\u00f1o hasta alcanzar $50 por tonelada en 2022. Despu\u00e9s de que el precio del carbono alcance estos niveles, habr\u00e1 otra subida de $15 al a\u00f1o hasta alcanzar un m\u00e1ximo de $170 por tonelada de contaminaci\u00f3n por carbono en 2030. La decisi\u00f3n se tom\u00f3 sobre la Ley de Fijaci\u00f3n de Precios de los Gases de Efecto Invernadero de 2018, que es un marco nacional para mitigar el cambio clim\u00e1tico mediante la aplicaci\u00f3n de mecanismos de fijaci\u00f3n de precios a un amplio conjunto de fuentes de emisi\u00f3n de gases de efecto invernadero.<\/p>\n

Aunque el n\u00famero de empresas que se comprometen a ser neutras en emisiones de carbono va en aumento, deben seguir los r\u00e1pidos cambios de los marcos pol\u00edticos.<\/p>\n

El impuesto sobre las emisiones de carbono est\u00e1 aqu\u00ed y permanecer\u00e1 durante mucho tiempo hasta que reduzcamos significativamente las emisiones de carbono antes de que sea demasiado tarde.<\/p>\n
