The Centre for Sustainability and Excellence (CSE) continues its series of European Accredited Sustainability (CSR) Practitioner Workshops by hosting its next training in Brussels between November 18 and 19, 2010.
The CSE’s Accredited Sustainability (CSR) Practitioner’s Workshop is certified by the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA), and is designed for all professionals responsible for the management of CSR, Marketing, and Public Relations activities.
The Centre for Sustainability (CSE) has been selected by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) as a GRI Training Provider in Greece. Through this collaboration, CSE is offering Certified GRI Training in Greece for the effective publication of CSR/ Sustainability Reporting in alignment with the new GRI G3 Guidelines.
The United Nations Global Compact hosted its tri-annual Leaders’ Summit in New York, USA on June 24th. Chaired by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, the UN Global Compact Leaders’ Summit brought together more than 1,000 selected leaders from all sectors to enhance the role of responsible business and investment.
Nikos Avlonas, one of the founders and Managing Director of the Centre for Sustainability & Excellence (CSE) gave a speech on Carbon Footprint Strategy and CSR this past week at the 7th CSE Summit in Dubai organized by IIR Middle East. Addressing the issues and challenges of climate change, Mr. Avlonas discussed the importance of integrating long term strategic business initiatives for the reduction of GHG emissions within a local and international context.

The Centre for Sustainability and Excellence (CSE) proudly hosted its third Sustainability Roundtable event on Thursday, March 25, 2010 in Chicago. The event featured key presentations from CSE partners, such as the Green Exchange (GX) Business Community and the Chicago Manufacturing Center (CMC), focusing on the topic of realizing and measuring the financial benefits of a Sustainability Strategy. Guests of the event included professionals from Hess Corporation, Wisconsin Energy, Baker Hughes, Carbonetworks, ERM, Nuance Solutions, Koelnmesse, 2 Point Perspective, and the Chicago Clean Energy Alliance. The group perspective was global, made up of people from four countries. The event was held at the Green Seal certified Talbott Hotel, in Chicago.
The Managing Director of the Centre for Sustainability and Excellence (CSE) Mr. Nikos Avlonas recently met with Mr. Herman Von Rompuy, the First President of the European Council, at the Inaugural Ceremony of the Presidency in Brussels. The event took place on February 26th, at the Museum of Art and History of Brussels.
The Centre for Sustainability and Excellence (CSE) and DePaul University are working to bring the topic of Global Sustainability to MBA education. CSE President, Nikos Avlonas and DePaul University have recorded and are producing a series of Sustainability videos to be stored on YouTube.com featuring the Sustainability champion discussing his experiences in the field. These videos will be available on-line for DePaul professors to implement into class curriculum and play in class.

One of the main conclusions from the 13th International Anti-corruption Conference, held in Athens 30 October – 2 November 2008 is that corruption is a key factor that must be addressed in order to strengthen financial, environmental and natural resources governance. The international high level forum calls upon all stakeholders to act in order to put an end to the misery, alienation and instability that corruption breeds.

Executives from large enterprises and organisations from 9 countries, successfully completed the specialised workshop that leads to the unique recognised professional title for Managers of Corporate Social Responsibility. The workshop successfully took place in Athens by CSE on 12 and 13 June 2008.

An initiative of European scope begun from Gefyra Rio - Antirriou “Charilaos Trikoupis”, for Eco-driving and compensation of greenhouse gases emissions under the European Committee, the Ministry of Transports and Communications, the Centre for Sustainability and Excellence (CSE) and the Institute of Road Safety “Panos Mylonas”.
